I have 2 older Rockford Fosgate 12"s that are 8ohm's and they are made for car audio, but I'm using them in my house off of an old wooden case receiver(like 320w x 8). It's got all sorts of doohickies and what-not but even messing with the filters on it, I am still getting a lot of high frequencies through. I have decided that I want to block out all freqs. above ~200 to 250hz(doesn't have to be exact).

NOW, I have read about stuff and I need an Inductor like 4 to 5 mh, but they are sort of more expensive than I wanted to spend on these($6 to $20). I was hoping that the inductor coils were similar in price to capacitors like under $1.

THEN, I read a few threads on here that say you can make a LPF with a resistor and a capacitor somehow?

SO, my knowledge of this stuff is very limited, the only thing I've done is wired in a capacitor to a door speaker to act as a bass blocker... nothing more yet.
...I need a CHEAP / SIMPLE way to use these subs w/o the mids/highs.

Thanks,
-Erik

you most likely can get a cheap electronic lowpass
from Rat shack. 20 bux.. and it work ok too.
