Here's the thread i had started a while back about this problem: http://www.caraudioforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=171695
Ive since installed my new eclipse HU, swapped RCA's, upgraded my ground to 4 guage(which is larger than what is recommended).......and the noise won't go away!!!!
I'm guessing now it HAS TO BE the amp..........any help would be greatly appreciated.

so is it still only occurring for a few seconds? Throw some muting plugs in the amp and tell me what happens.

well actually ive noticed the more i turn it up the more it goes away............at an average volume on my HU i cannot even tell the static is there, but when i lower the volume it is noticeable and only on the driver side
what are muting plugs?? ive never heard of them

if you have an old set of RCAs, hopefully ones that don't work... cut them and connect the two wires inside together. If you don't, you can buy them at radio shack.
basically, these plugs ground the signal input, giving you zero signal. Any noise that you hear at this point is due to the amp or subsequent wiring.
What type of amp is this?

how do you use a muting plug with an amp??
its a DEI 2400, bought off sounddomain when they had their closeout..........so it has a warranty if i need to use it
i appreciate your help by the way

disconnect your RCAs and put the muting plug on the inputs. Noise still there?
