Hey all-
I used to run two 10in type Rs powered by a 600watt mono amp in a slot ported box. It was an awsome setup, but got stolen with my car about a month ago. I got the car back with a few components to my stereo but no subs or amp. I wana rebuild my system, but would like to go with just a single sub that will pound hard to save some space.
I listen to mostly rap but I also listen to some rock/country and music like dave mathews band. What could be some of my options? Ive looked at the JL 10w6, but Im not sure if I want to spend that much money. Any help would be great. Thanks!

A single 12" Type R would do. I have a 12" Type R with the MRD-M605 amp and damn!!! It sounds pretty good. Although its the only sub I've heard.... It has nice bass especially when listening to Mike Jones..haha...anyways...thats my suggestion. Unless you wanna get a Type-X.

Hmm... well I've thought about forking over about 300 or so for a single JL 10w6 so that kinda gives an idea for money.. but really if I could find a nice sub that would sound better than both my 10s for cheaper then I'd go for it.

if you wanna save space, get a sub that will play Infinite baffle...

have you considered a pair of 8's?
a pair of 8w7's with 500 rms each would come in at the top of your budget, easily, but only take 1.5 cubes of space total, and definitely peg the top of the output list!
beyond that, there are some advantages to going smaller, rather than larger. baffle configurations, overall efficiency, larger overall Sd, smaller box requirements per driver, bragging rights of making some 8's sound like a 15"er.
tangband makes some groundpounding 8's that can be bought for dirt. four in a ported box with around a killowatt might be tough to beat for the budget, though come out on the top of the space taken requirement. Even the 6's have been shown to be little beasts of subwoofers.

I got some extra cash for my 19th Bday today, so Im lookin to get a sub real soon. My cousin just hooked up two (outa the three he owns) 12" JLW6's powered by pheonix gold in his rodeo and DAMN they sound badass! Im jealous of that mofo haha. I know I couldnt compare to him on my budget, but damn I'm missin out!
Since Im only doin one sub I just dont wana get something ima regret getting. I want great spl and sq as well.. and Im looking to go ported. So far Im stuck between either a 12" or 10" Rockford P3, 12" alpine type R, a 12" alpine type x, or the JBL W10GTi. Ive also looked at a 10in eclipse titanium. The titanium is pricey, but Ive heard some good reviews. Also I checked the Rlp, but didnt find many reviews??

i hope by reviews, you do not mean the "customer reviews" on sellers web sites, cuz that is one thing no one should go by. i say just keep asking on here, too many people on here that know what theyre talking about and care more about helping people and giving good advice than getting 10% off their next purchase for writing a review

Well yeah kinda. I've been checking them out on sites like epinions.com, n readin mag reviews when there is one. But from checkin on these forums on what everyone else is sayin, Im seeing alot on RE Audio, Sound Splinter as well as Image dynamics. Soo far I like the specs on the SS RL-P, and the Resonant Engineering RE and SX. Alot of threads give theses subs some gooood props

DAmnnn all these subs are badass.. but I might be gettin over my head here. As much as I want to go big, and believe me I do, I still need to stick to a budget. The beefier the sub, the higher watts needed and thats more $$$ comin outa my suby WRX budget lol.
I should prolly see if I can work with what I still have. Since my v12 mrd605 amp got jacked, alls I have right now for an amp is a rockford punch 250 that I used for my components. Its supposed to be rated at 440 watts briged @ 4 ohms.
Stayin within $250 or less (at most 300 if it its a good deal)for a single sub whats something that could work with what I have and still sound perdy badass?
