View Full Version : Will a 15" CVR bang in a vented box?

AIR JUSTES

I was thinking that i should buy a single 15" Kicker CVR and matching it with a Kenwood KAC amp, pushing it with 900 RMS (roughly) at 2 ohms. I found a box on ebay that is vented with 18" depth and has 3.4 Cu. Ft. Per Chamber. Would the CVR bang better in the vented box harder or what? Will it push enough air? i have a fairly large trunk (78 deville), will this interfer with the loudness and/or sound qaulity of my system?

CVR's can wang pretty good.

2 things
1. Large boxes get lower (dep on tuning) and also are more efficient
2. A big azz trunk just sounds deeper

As long as the box is of decent quality i'd go for it.

a friend used to have a 15" ported, and it was decently loud.

I've heard some CVRs get down and dirty, a 15 properly powered in a properly designed enclosure should get pretty loud.

What is the tuning frequency of the enclosure you're interested in? Some prefab ported enclosures are tuned as high as 55 hz (and I've rarely seen them tuned lower than 38 hz!) and quite often have insufficient port area. Provide a link so we can see if the enclosure is a good design.

I Run a Set Of 04 CVR 12's In A Ported Box @ 38hz. Got it metered about 6 months ago, hit 142 legal on a TL. Was running it off a DEI 1100d, god I love that amp.
