just got back from seattle last night:cool: decided to skip class thursday and friday and add on to my weekend. the class was a joke and had nothing to do with my field of work, i had to lol that i got a free vacation out of the deal though. however, if they send me back next year after i tell them how great it was i will not be staying in the same hotel i stayed in.
The hotel nexus
location: Ghetto
odds of getting shot: 1:2

holy fvck, woke up wednesday night to the sounds of gun shots and sirens. woke up every night to sirens. walked to 7-11 before i knew it was the ghetto and even the cashier was on crack. Found out before we left that the programmable key to your room works on every room8\ a red neck in the school was telling me he was almost gang raped by a group of mexicans over a mcflurry when he walked across the street to mcdonalds

They rented me a 2009 subaru imprezza sedan. it was nice to get to test drive one as i was contemplating buying one. i felt the suspension was too soft around corners, even my corolla could take some of these corners over the pass at 85-90 and this didnt feel safe much over 80mph. i liked the power how ever id like to test a manual to an automatic, the auto dropped into 3rd at a bad time, just about every pass i made it would down shift into 2nd and hit 3rd and slow to a crawl as i was passing, made for a scary pass. im assuming manual would be geared slightly different having 5gears. i hear they went from a rally suspension to more of a comfort suspension in 07-08 or something so the slightly older ones are probably better for sport like driving. i ended up getting it to about 110mph on a pass yesterday and it felt safe and easy to handle. i didnt like the lack of arm rests, no good for long trip imo

went to the space needle wednesday night, our dinner for 2 was $138 after $8 valley parking and $20 tip. i had seafood pasta and it was great except for the giant shrimp that was looking at me when they brought it out. i set that aside :bun:

i just ordered both an fi audio q and a sundown sae-1200dv2 and plan to build a box under the back seat of my truck. i'm fairly sure i'll be able to get 2.5cuft of airspace after port and sub displacement, but that's only if i fiberglass the bottom of the box to follow all the cab floor contours; although i have a few questions before i go into my build. first thing is should i have my sub firing up into the seat, or firing down into the cab floor? reason i ask that is because i don't really know whats best for output and sq. second question is, where should my port face in relation to the sub? third question is, does anyone have a good idea of port demension if i will indeed be attaining 2.5 cuft after displacement? and please don't recommend me to an online calculator unless you know for sure they're specs are accurate, i feel they're not best for optimal sq and output.

i thank you guys before hand as i have received prompt and accurate responces in the past here.

I recently purchased a car with a Kenwood KRC-507s system in it. I cannot get it to power on. There is power to the unit as the CD eject works and the button lights up (the one behind the faceplate), but neither faceplate will light. I have checked the fuse on the back of the unit and it is good. There is 5.5 volts on several of the gold colored connector pins that the reciever face plate plugs into but no power to the same plug on the CD unit (I am assuming teh reciever powers this up). I have tried pushing the faceplate to ensure contact with no luck. Is there a security feature that locks this unit out or something else I need to check? The car has been sitting for some time with no battery.

Thank you.

Hello there everyone,

This is my first post here. In a couple months, i will begin the 8 month process of building a '65 shelby daytona coupe, linked here. http://www.factoryfive.com/coupehome.html

One thing i intend to do is put a sound system in it. Yes, i know, i need LOTS of sound deadening. CLD tiles, fiberglass fill, MLV, carpet, etc, you name it. But the fact of the matter is, It's gonna be loud, cause it's gonna be a v8 with no cats and side exhaust.

I would really like some opinions and advice regarding gear/layout. Here's what i have so far, PLEASE chime in.

Space is tight, (think the inside of a miata) so im thinking a 6.5 component in each door, (with tweeters mounted higher up, facing the driver slightly) which are powered by a 4 channel amp, using the front channels.

The front channels would then be crossed over to the rear channels (somewhere around 150-200hz maybe) to turn the 6.5" "woofers" into mids, and bridge the two rear channels to a single, 10" sub, located behind the driver's seat. Essentially creating a 3 way. Suggestions?

On to SPEAKERS.

Despite quieting the exhaust and insulating the crap out of this, the car is going to be loud, no matter what. It seems to me, cheap speakers would get totally lost in the exhaust drone while the finer details of high quality speakers would go un-appreciated. Is this true?

Assuming it is, the name of the game is CLARITY. Im not interested in blowing my ears out, or rattling the windows of the cars around me with bass. I just need something clear and loud enough to cut through the drone and sound as good as possible.

I have been looking in the ballpark of some fosgate t1652s's, DLS reference r6a's infinity kappas, or maybe going overboard and going 3-way, with some CDT cl-6e32's, and mounting the high mids behind my shoulders, for some fill.

Any suggestions? Are these any more hi-fi than standard, pedestrian alpines or something? The problem i run into is, for every post i find saying that "speaker x" is of good quality, i can find another one calling it crap.

Sub wise, I'm thinking JL, cause they have real tight, clear bass. Again, clarity being the name of the game. Any suggestions?

I know everybody has their favorite brand. I CAN'T go super expensive (beyma, focal, etc). I am also not interested in what speakers you put in an otherwise stock car, and sounded pretty good.

As for AMPS, for what i am doing, does it really matter as long as it fits the bill, or will i be way happier with one brand over another?

While i dont want to waste my money on garbage im going to hate, i need to keep the budget reasonable. I'm sure i could drop about 100K into this car if i let my imagination run wild on me. Considering ebay and perhaps a used amp, I'd like to keep things under $500 for the speakers, sub, and amp. I will be building boxes and stuff myself.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Finally, the Apple Tablet PC was unveiled in the recent Apple Press Conference. What is Apple iPad? What are the features of this iPad, the new Apple Tablet? Here is some of information as to what iPad customers most want to know on this newest Apple Tablet – iPad. So, what is an iPad?

First, though, what is a tablet? Well, imagine taking the screen off your laptop, making it touch-sensitive and having all the hardware stuffed behind the screen. That's what a tablet basically is. Tablets fit somewhere between smartphones and notebooks and typically have screen sizes somewhere between 5- and 11-inches (13 to 28 centimeters). The new iPad is not just the ‘upgraded’ version of the Apple iPhone or the Apple iTouch. The new iPad is a hybrid of Apple iPhone, Apple iTouch, and a revolutionarily innovative laptop notebook. Using the touch screen, you can browse the internet, use apps, listen to music, watch movies and play games in this new http://www.aiseesoft.com/images/ipad.../ipad-life.jpg
Apple iPad. But you won’t be able to make phone calls.
All these advantages will make iPad a huge success when it comes to market. And will greatly improve your life and make it colorful. For example, with iPad, you can play HD racing games like you are holding a real steering wheel in your hand, and extend your experience to the largest extent. Moreover, you don’t have to read black and white newspapers any more. The big book shelves and large picture frames will be replaced by this high-tech Apple Tablet PC. You can read whatever you want with this wonderful tablet! Plus, this wonderful iPad is very light and convenient for you to take anywhere you want without too much space. You don’t necessarily have to sit at one place; you can read while you are walking, while you are taking a bus, even when you are waiting for someone. Apple has the foresight to design this keyboard dock so that it is also very convenient for you to type. Also with the multi-touch screen, users can easily achieve any operations with their fingers. For example, with 2 fingers users can enlarge the picture or reduce the size of it, and has made the interaction between man and computer come true. 4Videosoft iPad Video Converter is the powerful and professional iPad Converter can convert AVI to iPad, WMV to iPad Video, M4V to iPad Video, HD to iPad Video and MTS, 3GP, HD MP4 etc.to iPad compatible videos like MPEG-4, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, MOV, M4V. iPad is perfect for watching any kind of video: from common videos to HD movies and other files. If you want to make full use of your iPad you can use 4Video iPad Video Converter

Apple's launch of the iPhone 4 has seen the greatest excitement for a new phone ever - and with HD video recording, a perfect screen and ridiculously slim dimensions, it's not hard to see why.
If you're an iPhone fan, there's a good chance you won't like the look of the iPhone the first time you pick it up - it's the same weight as the iPhone 3GS at 137g, but it's a lot smaller, with dimensions of 115.2mm x58.6 mm x 9.3mm, so it feels like a much weightier and compact model.
The edges are stainless steel, apparently forged by winged unicorns in an iceberg (or something) to be 10 times stronger than 'normal' steel.
3. When you want to watch them on some HD video players, such as Xbox, PS3, Apple TV and so on.
4. When you want to share your videos with your friends on youtube, myspace and other online video website.
All the problems' reason is the video format, MTS.
The video format of your HD Camcorder is MTS, and it is not supported by almost any video editing software, PMP, HD video Player and youtube.
So you have to convert it to common video formats.

Tip 1: Some knowledge about MTS, M2TS, TS

MTS format is a high-definition MPEG, AVC, H.264 transport stream video file format which commonly used by HD camcorders such as Sony, Canon, Panasonic, JVC. etc.
.MTS files are used primarily with Sony hardware. Camcorders make use of MTS in the form of AVCHD, a format for recording and playback of high definition video.
M2TS is a Sony high definition video file type. M2TS files are raw AVCHD videos recorded using Sony's camcorders, such as the HDR-SR(xx)series models. Panasonic, Canon and other brands of AVCHD camcorders also record in M2TS format.
TS (Transport Stream) is a communications portocol for audio, video, and data. It is a type of digital continer format that encapsulates packetized elementary streams and other data.

Tip 2: How to solve the 4 problem above.
It is easy to imagine that i met those problems when i got my first HD Camcorder. But now it is really easy for me to solve those problems.
The most important thing is convert your MTS file to other video files.
You can also click “setteing”adjust the settings of your output video, such as “video/audio encoder”, “Video/audio Bitrate”, “Channels”, “Resolution” and so on..

Okay well I have a single cab pickup with dual 10" woofers behind the seat so the ideal thing to do would be to build sealed speaker box because of the tight spot they have to be in. So I did and everything thing sounds great for rock and roll and quick bass hits. Now when you get to songs with a lot of bass such as Rap&Hip-hop with continuous bass at some parts of the song when you turn it up it sounds distorted. Now I pretty sure its not my amp or speakers being over loaded. I'm thinking maybe because the boxes are air tight this could be effecting the sound. So I have a picture below of my setup let me know if i should put some ports in my boxes and if so how big and how many.

Thanks so much!:)
It sounds amazing. Anyone from the U.P. of Michigan, i'd like to recommend AMA audio, they do an outstanding job, are very reasonable in price, and aren't a bunch of kids that just want the loudest stuff in their vehicles. I'd also like to thank SPL Bronco II for giving me all the recommendations, and answering even my dumbest questions
Thanks,
