Had this unit installed in my car for a good couple months now and very happy with it, but I have found 2 problems recently and am looking for some help and advise.

Recently got a Samsung Galaxy S4 and the unit will not recognise the phone as a USB device, so I can not run my music from it, I have to do it through bluetooth audio which leads to less accessibility to my music via the headunit, I need to select music via the phone which isn't all that convenient when driving.

Another problem I've found is that DVD are not showing up the video, only the audio is coming through?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I recently purchased an Alpine UTE-42BT unit for two reasons only:

1 - Stream Bluetooth Audio
2 - Bluetooth Phone calls

On paper, this unit looked perfect, it was inexpensive, and took care of these needs, as well as giving me a handy-dandy USB interface in the front to charge my phone.

However, in practice, I am encountering an intermittent issue where the bluetooth audio skips, and seems to cut in and out. In the past, I had an issue where multiple bluetooth devices caused this to occur, but my BlackBerry phone is the only Bluetooth device I have when experiencing this issue.

I have searched through the forum, but my wording might not be right. If there's something I've missed, I'm very willing to look again if anyone can lead me in the right direction.

Is there any known way to make this stop happening?

Thank you!

The C5's have their own crossovers. the instructions on the amp say to set the crossover mode switch (filter) to hp which is for a tweeter midrange system.
Here is my question: Do I st the amp filter to hp even though the C5's have their own crossovers or do I switch it to off (off is for full range speakers). The instruction manual says for the hp position, " the frequencies below the crossover point will be attenuated at 12 db/octave".

I've had two setups so far and both of them used prefab boxes. Looking to port them.

And the sub is a 10" Kicker with "Solo Baric" written on it but I've no idea what power it is (I opened up the enclosure but can't see any indication written on it).

Short version: I previously ran an old 2ch amp bridged, just powering a cheap sub. The sub was horrible and boomy and I gave it to a mate, and I got rid of the amp as I decided I "Couldn't be bothered". I changed my mind once the sun came back out. Bought the amp on ebay, the sub via a FB group, and amped it up without issue.

I'd now like to amp up the speakers, which I've never done before. Looking at the amp manual, I can see I need to hook the speakers up to ch1+2, and bridge the sub on 3+4, no problem. The confusion for me relates to pic1 below on the left where it shows the Y-adaptor to ch3+4 - I don't get it. My HU only has the single set of RCA out, and from some googling I'm seeing mixed views on whether I need this adaptor, or whether it's for running 2 amps or whatever.

Secondly, looking at pic 2, I'm not sure why I have 2 sets of input, high pass, low pass, and filter switches. Is it that one set will be for the sub, and one set for the speakers? Presumably I'd set the sub to low pass and the speakers to high, but how do I know which side is which? Can I use trial and error or is that risking blowing something up?

And finally I've seen mention of not having an amp much more powerful than your speakers - am I going to wreck something? - the amp is class AB, 2x35A, which apparently means with a roughly 70% efficiency rating it's around the 700w mark (14.4v x 70 x 0.7).

Sorry for all the questions but there's a lot of info out there and I've hit a wall. Any advice appreciated, and if you need further info please let me know.

cheers
Please dis-regard the decorations, it's my moms favorite thing to do for people's birthday. To go to dollar tree, find the ugliest sh1t she can and put it all over the house. (Even does it for my grandparents)
