your amp overheats because its a terrible design and its operating at a electrical load its not designed for.
when you buy an amp and speakers you have to do whats called impedance matching..
the amp will give you its usable impedance range and its output for each impedance.
the speakers use voice coils, which have to a certian amount of resistance, in ac we call this resistance, impedance because it varies with frequency.. both are measured in ohm..
example.
most mono block amps will be rated like this.
stable down to 1 ohm.
500@4ohm
1000@2ohm
2000@1ohm.
so to get maxium output from your amp, you need a 1ohm load..so you would need a speaker with dual 2 ohm voice coils.
they are labeled dvc 2ohm..
