Best Components for under $300?

What's going on you guys! I know i know, another "what's better/the best" thread lol. But I seriously need help. Looking to upgrade my system with some components. The most I want to spend is $300 (not including amp). Realistically my budget was $250, but I'm willing to bump it up a lil if necessary. (Please no "I'd look at the xyz's . They're only $500" lol)

That said I have a few in mind. But before I get into that, I'd like to explain my music preferences so you can have a better idea of what might suit me. I listen to a lot of EDM music. And by that, I mean music that has a lot of elements to it; Not mellow music what so ever. I was told that metal tweeters are better for this type of music. That said, I tend to listen to my music rather loud. So I don't want speakers that are fatiguing/ear piercing. In fact, I had the Alpine Type R comps in my last setup and they kind of hurt my ears. So for that reason, I'm wondering if I should go silk. All in all, I want speakers that are clear, and can handle the elements of EDM music but at the same time, are smooth and not harsh.

That said here are some of the ones I've been looking at.

What are you guys thoughts?

Thanks!

The IDs are nice. I like the Polk MM in that price range. Hertz has a couple speakers in the $300 price range worth looking at. The ID's are little more detailed in the midrange than the Polks and Hertz speakers and the top end is similar.

If you can stretch into the $400 range, it looks like SSA has the NVX X-series back in stock. Those are pretty popular and are based off SB Acoustics drivers. The tweeter is big, so take that into account. These have really good midbass and the tweeter gets pretty loud. The big selling point to these is the low crossover point.

What about the RE's? Those have pretty stellar reviews.

The hertz are $300. The polks are $200 and the ID's are $270 MSRP but I can get them for $180 open box. At that price point, the ID's are hard to beat, right?

The problem with RE is good products, but crap service. If you do end up with a bad set, good luck getting any help. Parts Express carried Re for 1-2 years and dropped them because RE's service is bad.

I'd probably take the IDs over all the other sets mentioned at $270, so yes at $180, that's hard to beat. The IDs have exceptional off-axis response and the crossover is really flexible for the price range. If you're getting a warranty at $180, then I'd say it's a no-brainer.
