exactly what is a Reputation point?

i see that you can do a search by member reputation point, it doesn't show the actual amount of points though

see that little green square next to your post count?

well as you collect reputation point those will grow in number. this way people that come to the board can see who the other members of the board trust most. this gives you a quick point of reference as to weather or not that persons 1000's of post are worth a damn or not.

No, you can't see "who"...
You can see "what", if they chose to leave a comment, but they don't have to.

This will hopefully encourage people to post productively, because anyone on the forum can (and I expect will) post negative reputation points to post-whore and off-topic comments.

So - what you can see is where you received negative "reputation" points, visit the thread, and see what you did wrong!
Maybe edit the post so it won't generate more negative reputation for you.
