Grounding Question

I installed a JVC indash receiver in my 2004 Honda Civic. I took it to a small local shop to get it installed and assumed everything was well. A week later I tuned into an AM frequency and I could barely make out the speech due to poor reception.

My FM reception is fine, I took my car back to the installer and he verified the antenna was connected.

I have a 2004 Honda civic with the antenna built into the rear window. I'm not sure if this is the cause of the poor AM reception or that I got a faulty deck. The factory deck had no issues with reception. FM works fine, but I notice on AM there is so much static and noise that when I drive I can actually here my engine as noise through the speakers, I can even hear the noise change when I change gears.

Would anyone know if this could be fixed by grounding?

they have these things called ground loop isolators that cancel out the noise. you can get one at radio shack or online somewhere

Does this sound like a grounding issue?

Thanks for the reply, is this a characteristic of in improper grounding? Where would I place this grounding loop?

it's not really a sign of improper grounding, just that the things grounded throughout the car like the altanator are pushing current thoough your stereo into you speakers. that's why you can hear when the engine accelerate and changed gears when you drive. it's also called a noise isolator. i don't konw exactly how you deck is set up so i suggest asking the stor eperson when you go in to buy it, you can basically get one anywhere they audio stuff
