I am planning to install a new sound system and a few guys that I talked with told me that it's possible to power two subs with just one mono-channel amp. Can this be done? And if so, will this be 'good' to the subs?

Absolutely. I have a mono 1501D amp with two 15" subs wired series/parallel at a 2 ohm load and they really kick ***. Each sub will receive the same amount of power or equal watts. Adjust your gain, equalizer and frequency controls properly so that your amp will send all those watts. :)

This is what most people do. :)
Your wire them accordingly. Do google/ebay for "Class D."
Notice the impedances that amps run at, and what power that output at those ohms. Then, coincide that with what impedance load you will have to run your subs at. You can find wiring diagrams here Crutchfield Wiring Diagrams (http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-WNVxgOMwxin/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html). You will find that the loads differ depending on what kind of subs you're pairing and so forth. This is one of the first questions I had when I started too. :)
Just noticed this thread began in 2003.. WOOT.

kronik, you cannot believe how I feel right now, looking back at my early days. I've learned so much since my humble beginning
