wattage distribution

My buddy is making me a custom box for my 03 monte carlo. im getting a 10" and a 12" directed sx subs. I am thinking to power the 2 subs through one mono chan amp. the RMS is 600 for each sub, would it be peak to pwr the subs with a 1200 watt mono chan amp? would that not be a quite sufficient use of power???

Any advice would be quite appreciated. Thanks!

Simply put,a true 1200 watt mono amp will distribute or(divide for a better term)the power over each voice coil.Therefore you would have 600 watts going to each sub,or 300 watts per voice coil on DVC's.
