New to most of this - PLease help

Hi, I'm am new to most of the terms of car audio, i mean i know all the basics but it gets confusing when it comes to the Ohms as far as amps are concerned, from what i have seen some subs only 12'' are like 700w at 4 ohm i havnt seen any amps rated even close to that at 4 ohm, are 2 ohm amps or subs compatible with 4 ohm amp or subs? If someone on here can give me a briefing of what i need to know before i buy, or can direct me to an informational link it would be a great help. Thank You -- Tim
