Hey whats up guys i just joined this forum. Heres my issue, i have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's got an aftermarket Headunit that came w/ the car. Also it has the stock infinity gold sound system which is basically dead and driving me insane. I had been looking at bestbuy for a nice rockford fosgaet set up, 6-1/2 components in the front, standard 6-1/2s in the rear and 2 12in punch stage 1 subs. However when i went to get a quote for just the 4 speakers and an amp to power them, they wanted to charge me like $350, which i thought was a bit much. I have called around to local audio shops and they told me that best buy is gay, all of em. and now i dont know where to go. i dont know what brands to use or what, i listen to alot of rock/metal, but acoustic stuff as well. Whats a good brand to go with? and what setups should i use?

Hey, whats up? First off, Im no expert. All that I can offer you is my oppinion. I have owned Audiobahn systems, Memphis systems, and now i have a Kicker system. I wasnt happy with my set up untill I went with kicker. I have 2 10 inch L7's. The kicker 1200.1 mono amp (1369 watts). I am completely satisfied with the bass. Its actually more than I ever thought it would or could be. I still have the memphis front and rear speakers so Im still not happy with that aspect. Dont get me wrong the memphis are not bad, but its not perfect either. I got my subs and amp which retail for $1500.00 at ubid.com and payed only $600.00 refurbished from kicker with a protection plan for 2 years. http://search.ubid.com/search/Search.aspx?s=1016&q=kicker

It all depends what level of quality you need. $350 for speakers and an amp is nothing. Now, Best Buy is crap, and they also sell pretty bad car audio equipment. Now if the system is "dead," anything can replace it, crap or not. The question is how much you want to put into it.

first off if your getting 4 speakers amp and sub for 350, one that isn't that much for a system which is telling me that its there bottom line, if you want a good audio system for going to spend the money for it, the more the speakers the better quality that there built and there sound quality is better as well, if anything just replace your speakers first, amp them, then get subs and other stuff, it all depends on what matters to you though

If you post this in an different forum (Car Audio: General), you may get other advice, as this forum is to request new questions to be added to the FAQ, not to get responses to technical questions.
Good luck.
