Hi there:

I originally had:

a pair of 150watt tweeters (links to my front door speaker terminals)

a pair of 4 inch 150watt front door speakers

a pair of 6.5 inch 200 ish watt rear speakers

I also just bought a pair of 1500watt 10" SPL subs.

these were all linked to a 2600watt shark amp

I was told that my subs were lacking because my original amp is probably only 300watt rms.

SO,

I bought a 800watt (cheap) 2 channel amp, stuck all my speakers on it.

Then I bridged the 2 spl subs over the 4 channels of the shark amp.

I now have two problems:

I have engine interferrence

and

when I put the volume to about 27 the 30amp fuse that is in my live wire to the car battery pops and my music stops.

I have connected my second amp by adding short pieces of cable from the 12v, ground and remote to power it up and used the OUTPUT phono point on the shark amp to plug into the new amp.

(I know bridging power cable probably isnt a good idea, but i have done it before and before re-wiring the car I just wondered if this was the problem)

Before installing the second amp I did not have this problem. Am I taking too much power down one power cable along the car? or could the interference be something that needs solving to solve the 30 amp fuse blowing?

I really hope someone can help me

ps. did this site go down earlier?

To to confirm:

when my 30 amo fuse was blown, then I tried a 20 amp, this blew at about volume 22,

then i put another 30 amp in and the volume blew at 27 volume.

If i try a 40 amp fuse is it worth a shot?

I dont want to wreck the car electrics.........

I have been reading some other posts and other people are on about 60 amp fuses but that sounds dangerous.

I have also read that the gains should be reduced. This makes sense as I have the gain on MAX for the whole shark amp that powers the subs.

I have just bought a new line fuse for my battery - amp power cable.

This holds a 60amp fuse.

I have also bought a power splitter.

so I put the power cable in one end and there are two outputs (1 for each of my 2 amps)

Does this sound about right?

I have not fitted them yet

The power splitter also has a 40amp fuse on each side

I bought and installed all what I had,

I think having the two subs on one amp was too much for it

so I put my speakers and 1 sub on main amp then 1 sub only on the second amp,

this balance has worked and no longer causes fuses to pop

sounds cool

btw, yes, subs move air bt suck energy, so it had 2 b balanced as u did

with 2 amps you need a splitter box.

Try upgrading the power wire and ground wire to your amps, also it would help us a bit if you told us the RMS wattage and the brands of all your stuff of the two amps you are using then you can be helped!
