Hey was just wondering what is the most powerfull sub. Would it be the pioneer 5000SPL the MTX Jackhammer? I watched a video of pimp my ride and xzibit said he cant hear anything and his voice was all shakey so that seemed pretty bass'y. What do yous think is the most powerfull and pumps out the most air?

Solo X 18" can take 10,000 watts.
Im sure there is more powerful out there, but not many..

I would say the RE XMX/Adire Parthenon would be the most powerful. Without a doubt.

I'd say SoloX and Soundstream XXX are very powerful subs IMO.

subs don't have power, therefor, they aren't powerful. They have power handling.
To answer your intended question though, there are many subs that can handle 8k-20k watts for short bursts. The Powerbass 4XL-15 can take 8kRMS, and up to 25k for bursts

The RD Audio Super Heavyweight 4 inch coil version will take a good 40,000 for a short burst :) All of our record holders are using the Heavyweights right now though and giving over 10K per sub with ease.

That Powerbass sub will NEVER take 8K rms. Powerbass has kept testing and testing trying to get the Chinese coil to handle the power but they keep toasting them. Chinese coils just don't hold up. Until they use American or even gve Tiawan coils a shot, they will never hold up. A good buddy of mine got the first prototype and it lasted on 20K for a second and died a very quick death.

Do you care about powerhandling?
Or how loud a sub can get in theory?
Or how loud a sub can get in your car/install on real music?
Or how loud a sub can get in theory as part of a subwoofer system (you can't exclude the enclosure or the amp from any sub discussion!)
Remember - a subwoofer is just an electromagetic piston.
The enclosure determines how loud it will get, how efficient it is [at what frequency], it's sound quality characteristics, it's bandwidth, even how much power it can handle from a mechanical powerhandling level...
...remember, any sub's powerhandling rating is simply a thermal powerhandling rating, because mechanical powerhandling varies by enclosure! ;)
Also -
The things that need to be engineered into a sub to make it handle tremendous amounts of power inherently reduce it's efficiency (loudness per watt). And the things that can be done to offset that efficiency reduction can also be done to lower powerhandling subs, making them potentially louder than the higher powerhandling subs.
So-
Is your goal to feed watts into a sub?
Or is your goal to get SPL out of a sub?
Those are two very different things...
One requires a lot of money and a ton of inefficiency.
The other requires clear goals, and good knowledge on enclosure design.
Choose wisely what you ask for. ;-)

Yea, she holds a little bit hehe. We have a USACi competitor running 25K total to 3 Heavyweights right now with the loudest stock vehicle in the world. He has now bumped it to running 2 RD 7250.1's at 18 volts on each sub, and they will be seeing a good 20K+ a piece. We are thinking the windshield will go VERY soon :)
The Superheavy would be something we would put in an extreme or mod vehicle for some guys with HUGE power. The coil in that sub is the largest in the industry. The motor itself is 11 inches in diameter and weighs 70+ pounds.

I'd say the only single sub that has broken 180db...18" DDZ. 30+lbs of neo FTW. Anyone interested in buying the motor? I have a teammate who's trying to sell one...

In the Extreme builds, the subwoofer is MAYBE 10% of the equation. You can put about any sub in Dante's car and get ober a 180 :)
If you are tech at Powerbass, PM me, I got some questions. Also, have some questions on a buy out I heard about.

Here is the S-10 with 3 Heavyweight 15's on about 26K total. This was right before we went legal and set the record on the B&K meter. Rob has used PLENTY of subwoofers and RD has gained over all :)

Here is the updated record a few weekends ago when he busted his own.

You can scroll through the USACi forums and check out how many guys we have running RD and what records we have now.
Another cool thing happened a few weeks ago as well. RD updated the Sonance series sub into a nice SQ/SPL sub with a 50 mm aluminum wound coil and upgraded the motor as well. Now she is rated 1000 rms and we had a competitor run the first pair of 12's (not sure the class, but was stock) and hit a 158+. The new Sonance are VERY impressive and priced to please.

theres quite a few beast subs out there. super heavyweight, tsns, lms ultra. ect. its all install dependent on how loud they get tho.
