Hi,

I'm looking for a new car hifi head unit with inbuilt DAB and and a
USB connector to the rear.

Can anyone recommend such a unit?

If you can't get both together, what other options are available for
DAB?

Cheers

Shug

JVC offer quite a few USB units, including some of the new models
which have "USB-HDD" support for larger USB devices. You can add their
external DAB tuner to any of these.

Cheers for your fast response Jon.

I was really looking for an integrated DAB unit.

However, is an external DAB tuner the more preferred way to go with
this setup?

What advantages are there in having an external DAB rather than an
integrated one? I'm assuming this would take up an additional slot
somewhere in my facia?

Does this now mean I'd have two face-offs to take out the car each
time?

Cheers

No - it's a hideaway unit, about the size of a cigarette packet.
AFAIK, no-one does a decent integrated unit with DAB and USB at
present.

Hi again Jon,

I'm coming round to the idea of an HDD-supporting head unit with an
add-on DAB tuner.

Thing is, from the JVC range, I can't see any which have a REAR USB
connector, and which explicitly state that they'll take an external
HDD of around 60G.
I'd also want the HDD to be powered over the same cable, as it does
currently from my laptop - it takes around 500mA.

Do you know for certain which ones in your range meet these
requirements?

Cheers

As far as I'm aware, the only units likely to give you this are the
USB-HDD models, KD-AVX33 or KD-BT1.

JVC USB-HDD devices support USB power up to a maximum of 500mA.
