kenwood dvd with no bass

For some reason the Kenwood kvt-729dvd integrated amp delivers almost no bass at all. I have the polk momo mcc6500 speakers and with an old alpine cd player the speakers almost make the doors fall of! I have tried to change the settings but the Kenwood player is not even close to the Alpine.
I have also tried an old mustef 2x60w amp but it dosent help.
Any ideas???

kenwood is good stuff, but that is how they all sound to me. i work for a kenwood dealer and install all kinds of kenwood stuff. they all sound real flat to me. i can never get any system with a kenwood head unit to sound really good. dont get me wrong, it is really good stuff, but sound is like you are describing.
i can never get enough high end sound out of them.

Check to make sure you have all the speakers in phase.
The easiest way to check this is to balance from left to right.
If you get better bass when the balance is all the left or right, then one
speaker is hooked up wrong.

I have tried. It seems, and this is a guess based on the fact that i am not sure
about the differens between high and low bass, that low bass is not delivered to the front and rear, only to sub-woffer. IS it possible to get low-bass to the front???

arrives at the drivers position at the appropriate time. In my case the
passenger side kick panel component set measured the farthest away, so
all the delays for the other speakers were referenced to it. I was
fortunate that being a digital system the ODR's system processor was
able to handle that function in the digital domain.
