what Are OHMS. How come subs and amps have diff. ohms on themselves eg.( 4 ohms mono/2 ohms stereo in one sub only)

OHMS is a measure of the impedance level
car speakers are usually rated at 4 ohms.
when u wire up more than one speaker to your amp or if your sub has dual voice coils, you can either raise or lower this amount.
wiring two 4 ohm subs in parallel will reduce the impedance on the amp to 2 ohms, but wiring them in series will double the impedance to 8 ohms.
Basically you want to get the impedance as low as your amp can handle as this will give you maximum power.

We have a tech doc specifically regarding parallel and series wiring for speakers. More importantly for you, we show diagrams of each type of wiring and how to calculate the resultant or overall resistance or ohms of each type of wiring.
go to our website: http://www.installdr.com
On our homepage, select the orange TECH DOCS button.
Then scroll down until you see the document for Series and Parallel wiring.
This should give you an idea of how OHMS comes into play in car audio.
